My Bucket Filler

This poem is inspired by the story “Have you filled a bucket today?”

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim
With sweet laughter and joy
Now its light is no longer dim.

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
With innocence and camaraderie,
All of which not known to him.

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
His glistening eyes and heartfelt stare,
And his name was little Jim.

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
With kind words, a helping hand,
And it was not entirely off the whim.

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
He cuddles and kisses,
Better still than my best friend Kim.

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
Showing special love and care,
Now its tipping over the rim!

A 4-year old filled my bucket
And he filled it to the brim,
And I filled his own too,
Now he’s in my heart like a SIM.
